Luke Hathaway was on a job when he sees an old flame Claire Samson She is currently wanted for the murder of her husband Now she is on the run and runs to the only man she thinks she can trustJust a fair read for me

HelenKay Dimon delivers alot of action in the 214 pages of her new Harleuin Intrigue Under the Gun Clair Samson is on the run and in serious trouble She's been set up to take the fall for murdering her estranged husband Phil who it turns out really isn't dead after all and now someone is trying to kill her Claire turns to the one man she believes can help her prove her innocence and keep her alive at the same time Luke Hathaway hunts people for a living both those who don’t want to be found and those that are praying to be rescued; he’s an expert at recovering people Her look may be different but the minute Luke spies the familiar face in the computer monitor staring back at him he recognizes it as none other than his former fiancée Clare Samson; the woman who jilted him just before their wedding two years earlier Aided by fellow agents Holden and Adam Luke and Claire are going to have to set aside their differences and unresolved feelings for one another if they are going to solve the mystery of who set Clair up and the reasons why I loved the interaction between Luke Holden and Adam It was fun uick witted and full of sarcastic banter I can only assume Holden and Adam get their own stories in the future and I certainly hope so Claire is no push over either and she can certainly hold her own against the men There was lots of fun dialogue between all the parties I know the author doesn’t have a lot of time for a back story in these category romances but in this case I wish there had been time to provide insight into why Claire left Luke and how she hooked up and married Phil so uickly after her breakup Under the Gun has it all; betrayal deception embezzlement gunfights and even a daring escape from a burning building The action is fast and furious once it starts on the second page and doesn’t let up until the end I really enjoy HelenKay Dimon’s writing and I hope you will to

I'm always surprised that I enjoy Harleuin books so much The Intrigue books are usually well written and engaging Lots of suspense mixed in with the romance Sexy heros and strong women Hardly ever find one that isn't a good read and this is no exceptionThe blurb on the front of the book says Intrigue's Ultimate Heroes but it is book 1 one of Mystery Men series that's the blurb on books 2 and 3

The first book in the Mystery Men series starts out uickly on a suspenseful note continuing at a fast paced There is a lot of action packed into this category but there is also a romance that moves right along with the actionClaire Samson is wanted by the police but they're not the only ones after her She turns to her former fiancé Luke Hathaway supposedly an antiues dealer Fortunately for Claire Luke is not into antiues rather he's into guns and knives and his ability with weapons comes in handy Claire going after Luke but then running away from him confused me There is some back story on why she broke the engagement but it was thin and didn't make sense considering the heat these two were giving off It would have made sense if Luke had broken up with Claire because of the dangers and secrecy of his jobLuke hasn't forgiven Claire for practically leaving him at the alter two years ago He's still hurting but being an alpha male pretends he's over her and simply wants to find out who is out to kill her What's interesting is that he doesn't take her word that she's innocent of killing her husband Instead Luke must see the crime scene and verify that it was impossible for Claire to have committed the murder I really didn't get why these two would have been together other than the physical attraction They still loved each other but I didn't get whyLuke's good friends and coworkers Adam and Holden really added depth to the story I enjoyed the camaraderie these three shared and how both men looked out for Luke Neither trusted Claire and didn't want Luke to get tangled up with her again She did win them over but they made her work for itThe suspense and mystery surrounding the murder are what kept me reading Claire and Luke do get there HEA but at that point I was ready for of Adam and Holden Lucky for me both men get their own books

For a story in the Thriller series this one wasn’t thrilling At allA slow paced plot with twists and turns visible from miles away and bland one dimensional characters Also the heroine logic completely eluded me I know my fiancé is keeping secrets from me and since I have issues from my childhood I don’t trust him to love me so I’ll dump him and marry the first rich man that comes along even though he turns out to be a cheater and tries to implicate me into his own murder to get his money Still I know I’m better off with him than with the man I love and actually loves me as well despite everything I did to himHuh?

  6. Darcy Darcy says:

This one was very predictable and utterly forgettable Girl runs out on guy because he was keeping secrets and she didn't ask Meets new guy and jumps to marry him right away doesn't hurt that he is very rich New rich guy isn't what he seems and they end up divorced He sets her up for his murder and to take the fall for stealing money So what is the girl to do well of course go back to the old guy who it turns out as is a secret government agent who helps her out

  7. Sarah Webber Sarah Webber says:

Convoluted and gory I hope the next books in the series are better

  8. Evelyn Evelyn says:

I really enjoyed this second read of this book The ending is a little weak but it was okay too

  9. Evelyn Evelyn says:

This is a stand alone book but also the start of a great series called Mystery Men There are five books in total all written by Helen Kay Dimon

That’s what Claire Samson wanted to know On the run and alone there was only one man she trusted to find her Recovery agent Luke Hathaway was the best at locating and saving and she needed the best if she wanted to live But the handsome agent who promised salvation had some conditions of his own If he were to help she needed to stick close by his side Very close And the only thing dangerous than her current situation was the way Luke made her feel From the protective look in his green eyes she could tell he felt the same But every second that brought them closer together was also ticking toward an explosive confrontation that might tear them apart
