thought this book was so cute I m very familiar with the study the book was based on, so I was really excited to pick it up and see how it was played out in book format I read the book in one sitting, and really enjoyed it It s a YA romance about two teens completing 36 questions with each other with the intention being a psychologist will study the results and see if they feel connected or predictable It s a typical girl meets boy story with lots and lots of misunderstandings until they eventually start to understand each other, etc etc etc Despite the predictable plot which is pretty much a given in this type of book I found the story and characters enjoyable There were some drawings throughout the book, which I really liked and thought was a nice touch The one qualm I had was that there was a ton of build up to some bad event that happened in Hildy s life, and when it finally came to light at the end of the book, it seemed like there was going to beresolution with that particular storyline, but the book ended and I felt like it was rather abrupt and that there could have been someclosure in that regard Overall, if you re looking for a book that s light and cute and has a happy ending, this is the book for you So a clumsy heroine who is shy and babbles a lot and is prone to accidents Enter the proverbial bad guy who doens t give a damn and is full of himself Follow into an interview between them from hell which makes you exit this book as fast as you can afraid this exchange is going to be the way the rest of the book is Sorry, I guess this book wasn t for me, I got lost as soon as the clich s began entering S DNF 36% I was really interested in the idea behind it, but I couldn t connect with the characters at all I couldn t quite get the rhythm of nearly ended up on my DNF pile simply because of the writing Outside of the IMs and interview style set up that was used while they asked each other questions, I didn t like the sometimes first third person style that was used when Hildie was on her own or inside her head It felt a little forced and very rough even for an ARC But having said that, when she was talking to her friends or Bob I m despite things not being resolved outside of the main romance, I did end up with the mushy feels for these two DNF 28%Received from netgalley in exchange for a honest review Great premise that I had my Psych Degree mind in full overdrive but with characters I m not interested in after the second chapter Also the potential of one the main characters being stereotyped into the typical thug and other stereotypes with different characters So nope Had potential but lost my interest very quickly. This book was very interesting, especially in terms of the concept To think just answering a few questions could lead to a proper relationship and completely change what you think about a person is of the blue and how certain interactions can lead to.The book mainly follows Hildy and Paul, when they both decide to take part in a university psychology study, in which the main focus is to see whether love can be engineered Both of them have completely different reasons to why they agree to answer questions and join the study Hildy actually knowing what the study is about and deciding to push herself out of her comfort zone and Paul only focused on the 40 he will make after taking part However they are then paired together to answer the 36 questions This was muchexciting and funny than I thought it would be To be honest I was expecting a fluffy, only partially believable romance with not much depth but I didn t get that at all It was interestingly different in terms of the way it is written, both in terms of the points of perspective and the structure in which the book is written There was a lot of depth to the characters separately and they definitely stood apart from characters in other books Often its hard to find authors whose protagonists really bring something different to the table butrecently I have been surprised by the character development and the progression of the romantic relationships in the contemporary genre This book was no exception to that I found Hildy very relatable and the author really did a great job painting a picture of her life without blurting everything out at the beginning of the book Information was slowly uncovered throughout and I think that it worked well That said, I did have a problem with certain family relationships not being exploredI feel as though it could have added a lot of depth to the story and possibly given the plot what it was lacking and even upped it to a five star read My main problem with the book was that it was too short Some things only scratched the surface and I wanted to dive into that drama I neededinteractions between Hildy and her family and friends We didn t really get to see how everything was resolved However I do give praise to the ending I very much enjoyed the way it came to a close and it really made me smile.Back to the writing The way in which it is written is a little jarring and took a bit to get used to in the beginning, however I don t feel like that was a bad thing because I quickly got used to it and it was a great reading experience I loved the humour, some of the dialog was really hilarious, I was in a literal fit of giggles at one point I just couldn t believe the author had actually written some of the things she had It was unfiltered, yet not too much so and the innuendos were fabulous.I however do wish we could have gotfrom the psychologist Jeff s perpective, perhaps after the end of the study, it would have been interesting to read Although at the same time I feel like if we had, it would have made the relationship in which the protagonists had built seem a little less real and kind of cheep so I think I am kind of glad we didn t at the same time Overall I thought the format was pretty weird however I really liked it at the same time and found it really quick to read I enjoyed the way the idea was executed The plot was very fast moving and the characters were well fleshed out, which made the progression of the relationship very exciting to read It was a very enjoyable read and would definitely recommend picking it up and giving it a go.Thank you to Running Press for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review I received an ARC of this book on a read to review basisIs there something you ve dreamed of doing for a long time Why haven t you done it This was a good book okay Despite the bright colors in the cover there were some parts that also hit those deep moments And the writing of the romance between the two MCs was very unique. It s just that, well I m not a fan of the writing style It didn t grip me and the only thing that was keeping me going was the plot it wasn t that uniqu I received okay with reading through the whole thing just because I loved the characters I m that kind of reader The theme and the air of the book is also a bit refreshing and light and it worked out great for me when I was reading this book. The questions were too much if you ask me Maybe abut 20 questions would have been okay But 36 I think that s a tad bit too much I have never been a fan of books that had too many questions or reasons for the book to happen and what not because when it is too much, the writing will also seem rushed Sadly, this is also why happen in this book For the first 26 questions it was still going great but for the last 10 or so that s when the writing started to feel rushed. The romance did seem pretty long and prolonged if you know what I mean I actually wanted to see the two main characters interactin real life rather than just fall in love but you know, that might just be me.Full Review Inspired By The Real Psychology Study Popularized By The New York Times
