intermediary level of skills when using AngularJS There is no introduction in to Angular JS and jumps straight into AngularJS Directives If you are new to AngularJS then put this on your must read list as it will be required once you have an understanding of the basics of AngularJS.The book covers all aspects of AngularJS Directives and the author walks through examples that really make it easy to understand with real world scenarios So far I have only read the first four chapters and the book goes into great detail on how to use directives for a particular scenario. The book starts with a high level introduction to directives, what they are and how they are created, and covers things like Scope, Controllers and ControllerAs, Require, Restrict to name a few Each section describes how to set up the directive and an example is included to help with the explanation. The second chapter covers building a Stopwatch directive, this chapter also introduces the reader to testing and to write in a BDD style format Building the tests first and then writing just enough code so the test passes. The third chapter covers External Javascript JS libraries and demonstrates how and when to use the digest and apply So that changes in the external JS files will be reflected in Angular JS when an event has happened in one of the external JS files.Once I complete the book I will update this review covering the remaining chapters But as an early review I would certainly recommend this book as it provides great insight into the world of AngularJS Directives Directives can be tricky to fully understand at first but once you have a good understanding of the basics then you realise just how powerful Directives can be This books teach about how to use AngularJS directives to build a modular directives work, the different stages that they have, their options, their quirks, how they interact together and how to test them are fundamental to write robust code.Learn with it how to build directives as independent components to resuse them in all your developments and speed up the development cycle but keeping your code clean and robust and ready to beat the web.The book definitely provides a thorough documentation driven by examples in how to boost AngularJS directives to build awesome and good quality huge single web applications.Check the table of contents anddetails of it on PacktPub and I hope that you enjoy with it Unlike many general introduction books, Mastering AngularJS Directives by Josh Kurz takes a muchspecialized approach It assumes you know AngularJS fairly well and explores just one but arguably the most complex of its corners directives. It s not a thick book and the table of contents looks just right Basic introduction to directives, a simple example, and then digging deeper into integration of third party libraries, compilation, communication between directives, writing directives Unlike many general introduction books, Mastering AngularJS Directives by Josh Kurz takes a muchspecialized approach It assumes you know AngularJS fairly well and explores just one but arguably the most complex of its corners directives. It s not a thick book and the table of contents looks just right Basic introduction to directives, a simple example, and then digging deeper into integration of third party libraries, compilation, communication between directives, writing directives to watch live data for changes, and finally some optimization and code quality notes.Unfortunately, the book is rather poorly written It is confusing even to someone who has been using AngularJS profesionally for over 1.5 years The explanations tend to be short and often miss the point You may see a difficult issue brought up, followed by a listing over 2 pages long, and finally left with unsatisfactory explanation of how it works or why you would do it this way In some ways it just lacks focus. There are some substantive errors too calling JS objects JSON notation , mentioning singletons giving you a new instance every time etc. That said, even though it is a difficult read, it is not without value I learned quite a few things myself, some of them mentioned directly and some between the lines It s one of the first attempts at thorough introduction to directives and it still may come in handy at times. The bottom line I am not sure if I would recommend it to a friend I liked Mastering Web Application Development with AngularJS by Pawe Koz owski and Peter Darwin a lot better, and even though it s not dedicated to directives it does better job at explaining them Opinion This book has covered a small and important portion of angualrjs directive in great detail, but one of the issue with the book is all the example codes needother works to run I have read many of the packtpub books with with ready code to execute and relate the example with chapters. For example in chapter 1, the discussion is aimed at experienced developers But in my opinion, there should be a little workable example of directives, which can be run after putting this in Opinion This book has covered a small and important portion of angualrjs directive in great detail, but in chapter 1, the discussion is aimed at experienced developers But in my opinion, there should be a little workable example of directives, which can be run after putting this in web server And then, there should be step by step approach to fine tuning of the codebase with the making of angularjs directives.Chapter 3 is really interesting as it described directives and their options in great detail.Chapter 4,5 and 6 are about compile, link and controllers are having good explanation of the concepts related to angularjs directives.Again, within chapter 8,9 and 10 the unit testing are discussed and the codes are explained, which is fair But there is no clue about how to run karma, bower components etc atleast good reference site for using those are needed to be refered in the Book. What I feel, the book is written with a blogging approach the advanced javascript developers can relatewith this book.Who should read this book This book is for already used to angular js developers, who have worked in different applications with angularjs For beginner programmers, they need to have fair knowledge of angularjs before reading this book Concept wise this book will be helpful for intermediate and advancded angularjs developers Want to code directives like a black belt ninja study this book and you will master it It gives a deep dive into AngularJS directives accompanied by interactive code samples on jsfiddle my highlight and a test driven perspective I enjoyed reading and would recommend it to the profound JavaScript developer. This book isdedicated to AngularJS experimented developers than newbies Directives are one of the most critical and complex part of the Angular framework and the author is explaining how they are working pretty well With testing, code quality and performance in mind, the book shows good examples on writing your own directives as well as integrating third party librairies. This book takes a hands on, step by step approach that helps the reader focus on the most important points and learn exactly what they need All of the directives in the book have live examples that go along with them, and there is a strong focus on how tests are incorporated into all types of directives [EPUB] ✵ Muerte en Hamburgo (Jan Fabel, Author Craig Russell – 9facts.co.uk step by step approach that helps the reader focus on the most important points and learn exactly what they need All of the directives in the book have live examples that go along with them ❮Download❯ ➵ Jazz Age Stories Author F.
