I read this book cover to cover, which I don t recommend It does get dull after awhile.A lot of historical information on Witch trials, and on the various traditions of Wicca No information at all on dreams and trancework.A lot of the entries in this resource felt off Or incomplete Like how the entry for Beelzebub doesn t mention the idea that he s the father of Satan Or how the author constantly invokes the idea of white magic and black magic I think Diane Smith put it best when I read this book cover to cover, which I don t recommend It does get dull after awhile.A lot of historical information on Witch trials, and on the various traditions of Wicca No information at all on dreams and trancework.A lot of the entries in this resource felt off Or incomplete Like how the entry for Beelzebub doesn t mention the idea that he s the father of Satan Or how the author constantly invokes the idea of white magic and black magic I think Diane Smith put it best when she said that good methodists aren t expected to identify as white methodists But this author, the encyclopedia s author, has a serious misunderstanding of black magic and Satanism. All in all, it s a pretty interesting reference, but rife with inaccuracies For example, it s said that the moon is only waxing after its first quarter I m pretty sure that s not true, that you can have a waxing crescent

In some places, this is dated and biased and it clearly shows However, it gave me so many new things to research and read about that I m not as upset about that as it would usually make me I have a list of several authors to begin reading if only to get a better knowledge of who they are and how they influenced modern paganism I also have several new things to contemplate within my own craft I borrowed this book through archive.org the Internet Archive, a digital online library Not a lot of In some places, this is dated and biased and it clearly shows However, it gave me so many new things to research and read about that I m not as upset about that as it would usually make me I have a list of several authors to begin reading if only to get a better knowledge of who they are and how they influenced modern paganism I also have several new things to contemplate within my own craft I borrowed this book through archive.org the Internet Archive, a digital online library Not a lot of people know about it, so I m going to start crediting it in my review It took me 3 check outs to finish reading all I wanted to read, as each check out is a short time If you can t get your hands on occult books or are a closeted witch, try The Internet Archive archive.org , its like reading on a kindle except the books are scanned and it lookslike a book

Definitely Wicca centric and biased, but that s pretty normal these days The passage on Satanism was completely wrong Robert Cochrane was only mentioned in passing in the entry about 1734 yet no entry about Clan of Tubal Cain No entry for Traditional Witchcraft, a definitely one sided entry for Devilis my own bias showing yet That aside, the many entries about famed magicians of yore, of witch hunts and trials, witch persecutions and both accused and actual witches were great and I w Definitely Wicca centric and biased, but that s pretty normal these days The passage on Satanism was completely wrong Robert Cochrane was only mentioned in passing in the entry about 1734 yet no entry about Clan of Tubal Cain No entry for Traditional Witchcraft, a definitely one sided entry for Devilis my own bias showing yet That aside, the many entries about famed magicians of yore, of witch hunts and trials, witch persecutions and both accused and actual witches were great and I wish I hadtime to read them all Still leaving this with the 2 stars because of the flagrant omissions
