I hesitate to totally pan a book, but in all honesty, I cannot offer any praise for The Tale of Miss Berta London by Jihan Latimer The story line was sophomoric at best and ridiculous at worst The characters were unbelievable and not well developed To give an example of the unrealistic element of the plot At one point Miss Berta has taken a position as a substitute teacher at a high school and on her first day her students are so unruly that she pulls the fire alarm to quiet them Say what I hesitate to totally pan a book, but in all honesty, I cannot offer any praise for The Tale of Miss Berta London by Jihan Latimer The story line was sophomoric at best and ridiculous at worst The characters were unbelievable and not well developed To give an example of the unrealistic element of the plot At one point Miss Berta has taken a position as a substitute teacher at a high school and on her first day her students are so unruly that she pulls the fire alarm to quiet them Say what When she gets home, she opens her mail to find a check for one million dollars from the magazine for which she works yes, she is also a magazine editor Again, say what Who sends a check in the mail for a million dollars Then she decides she will move back to her previous home, which of course is totally available for her to move in the next day Say what Unfortunately, I found myself uttering, Say what quite often as I perused this strange story Certainly not my cup of tea, but if you like everything simple and everything tied up with a nice little red bow in the end, you might enjoy this one I am afraid that I cannot endorse this one, but then again, to each his own

I won a free copy of this book from Good Reads The story line had so much potential which is the reason I put into win a copy I feel guilty giving this book or any book one star but, sadly I would give it a zero if that were an option The dialogue was immature and not consistent with the type of characters the author was trying to develop The characters were unbelievable and the story line completely missed its mark I strongly recommend to avoid this book.
