Craving the Forbidden The wrong Fitzroy brother Ticket dodging in a First Class train carriage is not how bubbly Sophie Greenham envisaged meeting Kit Fitzroy fearless army hero and brother of her friend Jasper The smouldering heat between her and Kit is an unwelcome shock – especially as Sophie’s masuerading as Jasper’s girlfriend all holiday Although Kit’s bravery is legendary he’s dreading the return to his bleak ancestral home But Sophie’s vibrancy dispels the shadows in his tortured soul consuming Kit with a potent desire for the one woman he’s forbidden to touchThe FITZROY LEGACY Wedlocked to the aristocratic Fitzroy family – where shocking secrets lead to scandalous seduction An unforgettable two part story from award winning author India Grey I was impressed that this book included a leading woman who wasn't a virgin and a leading man who wasn't either a billionaire sheikh or prince Not only that but I was impressed that the author chose to recognize the LGTB community in this book Sophie the leading lady came to the Fitzroy castle with her close friend Jasper to ACT in the role as his girlfriend so that he could keep his sexual orientation secret from his family during the course of his father's birthday celebration Problems begin to arise when Jasper's brother Kit who doesn't know that Jasper is gay but Kit and Sophie are attracted to each other The author also takes another daring move to these genre of novels by including the death and a funeral in the storyline I like the chances she has taken by breaking away from typical Harleuin Presents plot lines However one aspect kept me from giving the book a full five stars and that was it didn't pull on my emotional heartstrings enough My favorite Harleuin presents stories are ones where there's an interaction between the designated lovers that leaves a tugging feeling in my gut and on the verge of tears This story almost had that in a couple of places but not uite I think part of the weakness with this story for me was that the two characters barely knew for themselves how they felt about themselves or the other person In the stories that seem to work for me like any of Penny Jordan's novels for instance there is a lot of self talkexposure of the character's inner thoughts that lead to misunderstandings but also exhibits some kind of self realization and this novel was lacking in that aspect This starts of Sophie and Kit's story and it was very enjoyable though it had many HP tropes Sophie meeting Kit in an embarrassing way on the train when she is dressed badly tired then it turns out that he is the brother of her friend Jasper who is gay and she is pretending to be his girlfriendKit has a very bad impression of her and there is smoking hot chemistry between them then there is his dysfunctional daddy The book ends with them kind of together with Kit all set to go back to his job as a bomb defuserDespite all the tropes I loved the way it was written Sophie was young and vibrant and modern I adore anything written by India Grey who is one of my favorite Mills Boon writersCraving the Forbidden is book one in the Fitzroy Legacy – the story of a girl masuerading as her gay best friend’s girlfriend who falls in love with his brotherKit Fitzroy is a tortured lonely wealthy aristocrat on his way to attend his father’s birthday party meets Sophie Greenham an outgoing outrageous loving and loyal actress – loved that she had just worked on a vampire B grade movie who is travelling to the same place Kit is going to masuerading as her gay best friend’s girlfriendwho she discovers his Kit’s brother The scenes are the train where they first meet is hilariousKit listening to Sophie talking on her mobile to some French guyunforgettableBoth trying to deny the attraction they feel for each other they are unable to stop the deepening of the feelings they have Kit feels guilty as he thinks Sophie is his brother’s girlfriend and he fights hard not to betray him Ultimately he is unable to stay away from her She brightens up his life and his desire for her is something like he has never felt beforeSo many secretsSophie’s life as a daughter of a “flower child mother” who lived in communes in a caravan her unhappy school years Kit’s heartbreaking childhood being cruelly treated by his father after his mother ran away with her lover leaving Kit behind as a small child waiting years and years for her to come for him as she had promised Sophie discovers a shocking secret when a note falls out of a book she is reading in the castle’s libraryand finally Jasper comes “out of the closet” when his father suddenly dies of a heart attack at the birthday partySome fabulous charactersJasper’s boyfriendhilarious scene when he arrives to rescue Jasper village locals and Jasper’s mothertalk about a gold digger The setting descriptions are really goodI could feel the cold in the darkened passages in the castle The neglect and decay all aroundSophie is such an amazing heroineI absolutely adored hershe is warm strong stylish and so so likable Kit kind of grew on meI thought at first he would just be another boring rich man with nothing much to do and saybut he turned out to be a fabulous alpha heroThis story ends with Kit Sophie discovering their love for each other and having their HEAI can’t wait for Book 2 – want to know what happens after all the shocking events at the end of this storyBook’s BlurbThe wrong Fitzroy brother?Ticket dodging in a first class train carriage is not how bubbly Sophie Greenham envisaged meeting Kit Fitzroy wealthy aristocrat fearless army hero and brother of her friend Jasper The smouldering heat between her and Kit is an unwelcome shock—especially as Sophie is masuerading as Jasper's girlfriend all holidayAlthough Kit's bravery is legendary he's dreading the return to his magnificent ancestral manor But Sophie's vibrancy dispels the shadows in his tortured soul consuming Kit with a potent desire for the one woman he's forbidden to touch The heroine Sophie and the hero Kit meet on a busy north bound train Not only is Kit witness to Sophie's embarrassing state of dress and an awkward phone call but unbeknownst to either of them Kit is the brother of Sophie's best friend Jasper Sophie has promised Jasper that she will pretend to be his girlfriend for the weekend as he has not told his rather traditional parents that he is gay But Kit's presence and obvious disdain for her makes Sophie feel very awkward Kit sees Sophie as just another deceitful woman but there is something about her that draws him to her and he can't deny the attraction between them Kit has never had a close relationship with this family and finds being back home difficult especially after his experiences while away on duty with the military All his brooding erupts into a few snatched moments of passion with Sophie and they soon realise they are both deeper involved with each other than they expected But Kit thinks Sophie is cheating and Sophie doesn't know how to reveal the truth or get Kit to open up to herWhat an amazing book India Grey has done it again This book has so many good things going for it; family secrets sadness blazing passion misunderstandings humour well you get the idea I love the military hero the majority of the recent ModernPresents have had a variation on the businessman hero so this was really refreshing to read And let's face it you can't get much Alpha than a military hero The hero and heroine are perfectly matched; the uirkiness and spirit of Sophie is the perfect balm for Kit's brooding and tortured temperament Their snatched moments of 'forbidden passion' are scorchingThe journey these two go on throughout their love story is so evocative and wonderfully written I couldn't put it downI can't wait to read the second part of Kit and Sophie's story if it is half as emotion packed as this one then I'm going to need a seatbelt for the rollercoaster rideRecommendedOriginally posted at
